Dear Margaret. Thank you for allowing me to bear witness to your radical YES! That strange peace is certainly the mystery of Christ stirring in you. Like Elizabeth, I embrace you and rejoice. Let it be to us according to God's Word. Strong back, soft front, wild heart...
Dear Ian. Mary’s ‘strong back’ was her faith - nourished by her faith stories and community - past and present. We can’t be creatively vulnerable or wild- hearted without feeling supported by regular prayer, the people who bear witness to the paradoxical journey - and at least a few people nearby to provide sanctuary. Holding you in my heart.
Thank you Julie for this packed and inspiring offering for Christmas. I love the way you applied Brené’s triad to Mary. I too believe in angels and I am on the lookout for some surprising encounters this Yuletide! The word I hear is “emboldened” and when I realise how many wonderful people I have in my life who will welcome my “emboldenedness ” at this time, I hear my heart singing its own Magnificat. Blessings to you and everyone in this beautiful space. 🙏🏽 😇
Dear Julia. Be bold! You have very much to give. Why not write that Magnificat - and keep it near you as you carry the Life within you? I’m rejoicing in you. Looking forward to seeing the ‘baby’!!
These reflections have been so meaningful to me over the last weeks. Thank you, Julie. I indeed feel as though I am in a deep crack of darkness and failed solutions! I started by seeking light from above, but it seems I have been turned round and bidden to go deeper into uncertainty, into sifting, into darkness, which is also God, and as I allow myself to be taken deeper, I find there is a strange peace that is found in the depths. This morning the word that came to me was to do with this place of deep peace that surrenders and opens utterly. We, the others I use these reflections with, loved the strong back, soft front and wild heart image. Thank you, Margaret

Dear Ian. Most of us struggle to find that community locally. My community is around the world, in friends dotted about, in writers and in poets, and in that 'great cloud of witnesses' past and present. I find a paradox in that when I look for that community in the wrong places, I end up disappointed and defeated: but the more I enter contemplative prayer and living, the more communion I find at a much deeper level. Like Elizabeth, I embrace you and rejoice! Let it be to you according to God's Word.
